FAIR HAVEN — The Fair Haven Fire Co. will continue its annual tradition of hosting the Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair this week on the firehouse grounds.
For most of its 100-plus-year history, the Fair Haven Fire Co. has produced the firemen’s fair, with the exception of the years of the world wars, according to its website.
It is the largest firemen’s fair in New Jersey and the second-largest fair of any kind in the state, and serves as an end-ofsummer event for members of the fire company.
Each year, fairgoers enjoy traditional attractions such as games and rides like the Zipper, Rainbow, Wipeout and a large Ferris wheel. Young children can ride a merrygo round and take a ride on a real firetruck.
There is still time to get in on one of the fair’s biggest events — the “Super 50/50” raffle — with the winner walking away with tens of thousands of dollars. The drawing will be held Aug. 30 at 10:45 p.m.
The fair also features a sit-down dining room serving local seafood specialties and an “Out-Back” kitchen that serves hamburgers, hot dogs, cotton candy and ice cream.
The Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair is open 6:30-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6:30-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.
