The manager of the Halo Farm store on Spruce Street suffered some scratches and a bite to her right arm after she tried to stop a shoplifter at the store at 1:22 p.m. Aug. 31, according to police Lt. Joseph Amodio.
The manager saw a customer select juice, cheese, doughnuts and ice cream, Lt. Amodio said. The customer put the juice in a Halo Farm store bag and the other items inside her purse. She went to the cash register to pay for the juice.
The manager asked her to remove the other items from her purse, Lt. Amodio said. The woman removed the doughnuts from her purse and put them on the cash register to pay for them. The store manager grabbed the woman’s food stamps card to find out her identity.
At that point, the woman jumped on the manager and they began to wrestle, Lt. Amodio said. The woman was able to retrieve her food stamps card, left the store and got into a car that was waiting for her.
