There were a total of 89 entries in farm crops at the Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair this year, with keen competition in the "Grass Hay" classes, as well as tall sunflowers with eight entries.
The tallest sunflower was entered by Simon Siliverdis, with the entry by John Siliverdis coming in second. They are Delaware Township residents.
The tallest measured 15 feet, 1 inch; the second tallest was 12 feet, 8 inches.
Bernie Beatty received the most ribbons with eight. Not far behind was David Pinkerton and Tom Zeng, with six ribbons each. Judging was Aug. 19.
