U.S. Navy Lt. j.g. Stephanie Migut of South River is currently serving onboard USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43).

Sailors assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship spent three days in Baltimore, Md., giving back to the local community during a visit to the ship’s namesake from July 31 to Aug. 2.

With USS Fort McHenry preparing for deployment and a homeport change to Mayport, Fla., 12 sailors including Migut volunteered their time in Norfolk, Va. They helped refurbish the fort, visited children at Mount Washington Pediatrics Hospital, presented colors at Orioles Park at Camden Yards and helped restock a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Robert J. Capella, son of Steven Capella and Nancy Capella of East Brunswick, recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

He earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Capella is a 2008 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
