Seven recently honored Troop 1776 Eagle Scouts have made a big and, at times, visible impact on the community. Their collective experience range from hiking the Tetons, Maine and Georgia to camping in below-zero temperatures and giving countless hours of service to their community, state and nation.
As part of achieving the Eagle Rank, each of them planned and led an Eagle Scout service project.
Nick Tabernero created a storage space in a donated shipping container for the high school track team; it is very visible at the school with the red background and giant BORO in yellow.
Sid Ghoshal created a community garden area for Presbyterian Church; it is visible at the corner of Route 206 and Homestead Road.
Nathan Paget created a meditation area on the St. Joseph’s prayer path; although a little harder to find, it is well worth a visit.
Sam Romano help prepare the Middle School by creating eight emergency preparedness kits and three educational videos that instruct student on how to react to various scenarios.
Mark Stiefel created a garden for a women’s shelter in Flemington to provide fresh food and chances for therapeutic gardening.
George Bright assisted the Somerset County 4H by constructing signs for the 4H Fair and a photo backdrop for the horse competitors.
Scott Weiss also assisted the Somerset County 4H by constructing a chicken incubator after the ones from the state were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
