Twelve theories of who kidnapped the Lindbergh baby in 1932 will be presented by historian and author Jim Davidson on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Hillsborough Library, 379 South Branch Road.
Bruno Hauptmann swore he was innocent. Over the years many theories have emerged. Was Hauptmann part of a gang? Did Charles Lindbergh stage it because his son was deformed? Did Anne Lindbergh’s sister plan it because she was jealous and in love with Charles? Was it Paul Wendell, a disbarred attorney who confessed three days before Hauptmann’s execution?
