The Manville Public School District is one of only 21 school districts in the state to receive the certificate of excellence in financial reporting for the 2013-14 school year from the Association of School Business Officials International, based in Reston, Va.
Manville is the only district in Somerset County within the last few years that has applied for, and received, this distinction.
"This is a great accomplishment for the district in that it reflects our district’s commitment to the highest possible standards of school business reporting," said Anne Facendo, district superintendent. "The achievement also reflects a standard of honesty and personal character exhibited so consistently by our business administrator, Mrs. Kimberly Clelland, and her business team."
Manville schools received the award for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability, the organization said. Recognition through the certificate of excellence program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting, it added in a statement.
The district was recognized for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending 2013.
