Send Hunger Packing is a food drive put on by the Robbinsville-Hamilton Sunrise Rotary Club to benefit the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank’s school kids backpack nutrition program. The second annual Seniors Pasta Benefit, sponsored by the Robbinsville Township Recreation Committee, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Center. Robbinsville residents and surrounding community members are invited. The Senior of the Year Award will be presented. The cost is $25 per person or $180 for a table of eight. Community picnic to celebrate the World Champion Robbinsville 11/12 softball team, 1 p.m. on the grounds of the Robbinsville Police Station, weather permitting. (Sept. 6 date was canceled due to threat of sever weather.) The entire community is invited to this event. The East Region Champions captured the 2014 Little League World Series title in Portland, Oregon, earlier this month with a perfect 22-0 postseason, which included six consecutive victories at Alpenrose Stadium. It was Robbinsville’s fourth trip to the World Series since 2008.

Open House and Ribbon Cutting, new Stanley Dancer Library at the New Egypt Historical Society Museum, 1 to 5 p.m., ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Asseblyman Ronald Dancer will open the new library which houses an extensive collection of photographs, scrapbooks, trophies and personal memorabilia donated to the society by the world-famous harness racing driver whose stables (Egyptian Acres) were located in New Egypt for many years. The open house also highlights the opening of a three-month display featuring the photography and intricate model ships created by the late Duane Hughes, also formerly of New Egypt. The museum is located at 125 Evergreen Road next to the Municipal Building. Those unable to attend these special events may view them during regular visiting hours on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted. Art Auction & Silent Auction, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Robbinsville-Hamilton at the Nottingham Ballroom, 200 Mercer St., Hamilton Square. The 6:30 p.m. preview and 7:30 p.m. auction will feature framed art in all media and price ranges. Valuable silent auction items will be available to bid on. Major credit cards will be accepted. The New Jersey Quarter Horse Association is having an all-breed charity trail ride starting at the Wind Dance Equestrian Stables, 86 East Branch Road, Allentown, and traveling through the Assunpink Wildlife Refuge. Breakfast and registration will start at 9 a.m. The ride will begin at 10:30 a.m. Choose a level of comfort. Three guided rides will be offered – walk, walk/trot and advanced. Lunch will be served following the ride. Door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction will be part of the festivities.

The 16th annual pleasure ride/drive called "The Turkey Trot" will take place rain or shine 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Horse Park of New Jersey on Route 524 in Allentown and the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area. Winter storytime sessions at the Allentown Library. Stories, songs and fun activities every Thursday at the library at 16 S. Main St., Allentown. No registration required.
The schedule includes Good Morning Storytime from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. for ages 3 and under with a parent or caregiver (siblings welcome); Preschool Storytime from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. for ages 3 to 5; and Family Storytime from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. for all ages.

Book collection. Every first Saturday of the month from May through October the Friends of the Plumsted Township Library will be collecting used books for future book sales. Fiction, nonfiction, large print, children’s, CDs, DVDs, audio books and jigsaw puzzles are accepted. Do not donate soiled, mildewed items. Videotapes, Readers Digest condensed books, magazines or encyclopedias are not accepted.
