The Roebling Museum announces the continuation of the "Second Saturday Series" on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. with "The Bridges of New Jersey: A Lecture and Book Signing Event at the Roebling Museum." Steven Richman will take visitors on a photographic journey through the history of some of the Garden State’s most iconic bridges. Trinty United Methodist Church/Awaken School of Performing Arts provides individualized music instruction, music theory, children music workshop, a band workshop and more. Individualized instrument instruction costs $20 per half-hour weekly and $35 per hour weekly. Music theory group sessions cost $15. Vendors are being sought for the Craft/Vendor Fair at Trinity United Methodist Church on Nov. 8. Table rental costs $15. Reservations must be made by Nov. 1. Call 609-499-4809 to make a reservation.
A free home security program for seniors age 60 and over is being offered by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. Crime prevention specialists will install door locks, window locks and peepholes and will make sure homes have carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors and emergency interior lights. The fourth annual car, truck and motorcycle show will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church on Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is located at the corner of West Second Street and Spring Street. There will also be a chili cook-off with a $5 donation for a table spot. The Florence Historical Society will hold an open house on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old firehouse at 25 West Third Street. Artifacts, memorabilia, high school yearbooks and photographs will be on display. The "Images of America" book about Florence will be for sale as well as original coat racks from the Duffy School. The Trinity United Methodist Church will host "Awana," a Christian-based club for kids starting Sept. 22 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. There will be age appropriate groups for children age 2 through the eighth grade.
The Roebling Museum will host its first annual Oktoberfest featuring the South Jersey Pops’ Oktoberfest Band on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 3-7 p.m. The event will also include German-style food vendors and a beer garden. Admission on the day of the event is $10 and includes admission to the museum. Discounted "early bird" tickets are available for $8 at www.roeblingmuseum.org. For more information, call 609-499-7200.
The Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Auxiliary Unit 39 of Roebling meets on the second Tuesday of the month starting at 7 p.m. in September at the post home on Fourth Avenue. If anyone would like to become a member, call membership chairman Maryann Lathrop at 609-499-2829.
