Manville’s 14th annual Community Day on Saturday, Sept. 20, is shaping up to be the borough’s "biggest and best," according to Mayor Angelo Corradino.
Recreation Director Stephanie Cornelson said activities will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Park in Lost Valley. There’ll be free hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks while supplies last and a DJ will play popular tunes throughout the day.
Activities for kids include inflatables to bounce in plus an inflatable obstacle course; games such as an "amazing race" team challenge; sand art; tattoos; a football toss; an egg toss; miniature golf; a basketball shoot-out; and, a watermelon eating contest.
There will be a home run derby just for adults. The longest hit will receive a prize.
Local businesses will have display booths.
For the first time this year, cheerleaders for the Manville Youth Athletic League will present their halftime show at 2 p.m.
Mayor Corradino said, "I started Community Day in 2000, right after Floyd as a thank you for the residents for being so resilient. This will be our 14th. It’s an opportunity for neighbors to meet neighbors. I look forward to meeting everyone. This will be our biggest and best."
Volunteers are needed. Call the Recreation Office at 908-725-9478, ext. 121. If no one answers, leave a message.
The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 21.
