Navy Capt. Joseph G. Rehak, son of Arlyne Rehak of Jackson, recently assumed command of Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center, Virginia Beach, Va.

Rehak completed basic underwater demolition/ SEAL training in 1992 and reported to SEAL Team Eight and deployed as assistant platoon commander aboard U.S.S. George Washington.

Rehak was later reassigned to SEAL Team Two as a winter warfare platoon commander and conducted operations in Europe and Bosnia from 1996-97.

From 1997 to 2000, Rehak was assigned to the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., and served as company officer for 1st Company and instructor for leadership and strategy. He then served as the operations officer for Naval Special Warfare Unit Three in Bahrain from 2000-02.

In 2004 he commanded the Navy operational support center until 2006.

From 2007-09, Rehak was assigned to Special Operations Command Korea as the deputy director for strategy and plans. In 2009 he assumed command of SEAL Team 18.

Rehak’s last duty was the special operations liaison officer to Kenya.

Rehak is a 1986 graduate of Monsignor Donovan High School, Toms River.
