HOWELL — A resident of Howell is facing drug possession and distribution charges following a motor vehicle stop at 5 p.m. Aug. 29.
Police said Patrolman David Gilliland and Patrolman Nicholas Saltzman conducted a motor vehicle stop of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by Leon White Jr., 36.
Following the motor vehicle stop, Gilliland requested a response from Patrolman Nicholas Bondarew and his K-9 partner Jago.
Upon deploying Jago, multiple indications were given by the dog on the Jeep, which prompted the officers to search White.
Police said 100 wax folds of a controlled dangerous substance believed to be heroin were found on White.
The Jeep was impounded so the officers could secure a search warrant. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an additional 400 wax folds, according to police.
White was charged with possession of heroin and distribution of heroin. He was placed in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $32,500 bail.
