Join the South Brunswick Senior Center, in the Municipal Complex, Route 522, as September 2014 celebrations for Senior Center Month take place and we invite all adults 55+ who reside in South Brunswick to come and take a tour, attend the many special events planned this month and become a member.
Sat., Sept. 13
Kevin Brown Memorial 5K Run/Walk and Picnic, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Woodlot Park, 104 New Road, Monmouth Junction. (Rain date Sept. 14.) Family fun- filled day to raise awareness on drug dependence. The picnic will include airbrush tattoos, face painting, dunk tank, bounce house for kids, kickball, chair massages, volleyball, and Zumba in the park. There will be a DJ playing today’s hits, a photo booth for amusing and wacky pictures, and various vendors will also be on site. General admission includes the 5K, a T-shirt, and all activities. Food trucks will be present but are not included in the cost. All proceeds will be donated to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence in memory of Kevin. The Dayton Village Citizen’s Coalition will host its annual potluck picnic from 4 to 7 p.m. at the historic Wetherill House , 269 Georges Road, Dayton. Flu and pneumonia shots for seniors at high risk will be given from 9 to 11 a.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. Operation Blue Angel, a free program run by the South Brunswick Police Department to assist residents who, due to advanced age, mobility, or medical concerns, may be unable to answer their door in an emergency situation, will be discussed at 12:30 p.m. at the Office on Aging, South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. A Police Department-owned lock box similar to a realtor’s lock box is mounted to a door of the home. A key, supplied by the resident, is locked inside the box. In an emergency, responding police officers could retrieve the key by using a code , allowing police to quickly enter the home without causing damage.
