Senior Center schedule
Kessler Rehabilitation Center therapist Snehal Davda will give free balance screenings Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Manville Senior Center in the Fire Company No. 1 at 20 South Third Ave.
The senior center is normally open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
A suggested lunch donation of $2 is recommended for individuals age 60 and older. The cost of lunch for those younger than age 60 is $6.50. Call 908-369-8700 before 10:30 a.m. the day before to make a lunch reservation.
Transportation is available for those who do not drive.
Bingo is played every Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.
Birthdays are celebrated on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
An aerobic chair exercise class is sponsored by the Manville Recreation Department every Monday and Wednesday, 8:45-9:45 a.m.
Leg strengthening exercises are led every Friday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. A Zumba Gold exercise class is held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Fri., Sept. 12 — Wii bowling.
Mon., Sept. 15 — "Keeping Your Mind Sharp" by Deborah Sarfaty, Kessler Rehabilitation Center.
Wed., Sept. 17 — "The Masters of Swing" with entertainment by jazz musician Gordon James, 10:45 a.m.
Thurs., Sept. 18 — "Bees & the Buzz on Honey with Honey Sampling" program by Cathy Bluming from Wolgast Tree Farm & Apiary, who will demonstrate how bees make honey. Taste unique flavors that vary by the bees’ "diet" (i.e., clover, orange blossom, New Jersey blueberry, buckwheat and coffee honey from Mexico). September is National Honey Month.
Fri., Sept. 19 — The Memory Team Challenge: "The Masters of Swing."
Mon., Sept. 22 — Pick Ten Lotto Game by Lucy Tamayo, Bridgeway Senior Care.
Sept. 22 and 23 — "AARP Smart Driver Course" will be led by Lois Hockenbury from 12:30-3:30 p.m. This is a classroom, driver-improvement course that will teach motorists about new traffic laws and defensive driving techniques. You will receive two points off your license and receive a 5 percent discount off insurance for three years. Advanced registration is required. There is a fee of $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
Tues., Sept. 23 — Annual picnic at Ann Van Middlesworth Park with entertainment by Ken Tenkel and Pete Piccarillo, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Thurs., Sept. 25 — "Medicare Maze" by eldercare educator Laurie Roome, Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services.
Fri., Sept. 26 — Reminiscing about school days. Bring pictures.
Mon., Sept. 29 — "Grief: Adjusting to Change" by social worker Audrey Oxenhorn, As we get older, the only thing that we are sure of is change, and it can be difficult adjusting. Sometimes, it is helpful to talk about it so that you know that you aren’t alone. Discuss ways to stay in gratitude even though the world is shifting.
