A man who claimed he had a weapon robbed the TD Bank branch at Route 206 and Cherry Valley Road around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning.
A TDK Bank employee told police that the suspect walked into the bank alone, approached a bank teller, passed a note indicating he was armed, and demanded cash, according to Princeton police.
The teller handed the man cash in an envelope and he left the bank on foot.
Bank employees did not see a weapon and no one was injured. Bank employees did not speak to the suspect while the robbery was in progress, according to police.Princeton police patrols searched the surrounding area for the suspect but did not locate him as of press time Monday. The Mercer County Sheriff Department aided the search with a tracking dog to no avail.
As police scoured the area for the suspect, Hopewell Elementary School initiated a building freeze around 3 p.m. Students remained in their classrooms and were prohibited from going outside as a precautionary measure.
Police are searching for a white man between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, 23-25 years old, with a thin build, who was wearing a black T-shirt with a yellow animal-type imprint, white long undershirt, blue jeans, and a baseball cap with a yellow bird-type imprint on the front.
