LAMBERTVILLE: Bonds to pay for trucks and generators

By John Tredrea, Special Writer
Lambertville City Council was expected to introduce a $120,000 bond ordinance Tuesday night that, if adopted at a subsequent meeting, would fund the purchase of several new items for the city.
Under the proposed ordinance, which could be adopted following a public hearing at the council’s October meeting, a new phone system for City Hall could be purchased for $5,600. Also to be funded would be a F350 Ford pickup truck with a plow for $40,000 and a new body for a 1999 garbage truck for $70,000.
Emergency generators for the city’s Justice Center and library can be purchased if a proposed bond ordinance was adopted on second reading Tuesday night. The measure was introduced at the August meeting.
Under the proposed ordinance, the city could spend $150,000 for the generators. Grants from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) would reimburse the city a total of $103,942.
City Clerk Cindy Ege said the library generator project would be done first. Barring unforeseen problems in the work, the Justice Center would be outfitted next. The generators would provide electricity in the event of a power outage caused by extreme weather or other emergencies.
Also on the agenda of Tuesday night’s meeting was a public hearing and adoption vote on a proposed $120,000 bond ordinance that, if adopted, will fund the resurfacing of Wilson Street.
