(New Brunswick, N.J.) – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) has announced its sleep medicine services have merged to enhance the quality of care and scope of services offered to patients. The new Center for Comprehensive Sleep Disorders will be located at 331 Route 206 in Hillsborough, New Jersey, the site of the former Sleep for Life Center at Somerset Medical Center. As a result, RWJ will no longer see sleep medicine patients at its 10 Plum Street location in New Brunswick. The strategic unification of the services is a result of the successful merger between RWJUH and Somerset Medical Center which was completed in June, forming one 965-bed hospital with campuses in New Brunswick and Somerville.
One of the few sleep disorders centers accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), RWJUH’s Center for Comprehensive Sleep Disorders provides study, diagnosis, and treatment for complex sleep disorders. The Center will continue to provide a full range of sleep studies and treatment options for a variety of sleep issues including obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, periodic limb movement, insomnia, REM disorders, upper airway resistance, narcolepsy, parasomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, and restless leg syndrome. The center will continue to provide access to state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, expert care and cutting edge continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and sleep apnea treatment.
The Center features a welcoming hotel environment with fully-furnished bedrooms and ample on-site parking for patients and physicians. Providing care for patients of all ages, from infant to adult, in one centrally-located facility, the Center is staffed with state-licensed, registered technologists and physicians. The merger will broaden the Center’s scope of capabilities with the full-range of pediatric sleep medicine services now available to children and their families.
“Our priority has always been focused on providing patients with the highest quality care and access to the best physicians and technology available, and with the growing need for sleep medicine within the community, we are happy to announce the new location, which will encompass a wide variety of services and treatment options at one centralized, convenient facility,” said Anays Sotolongo, MD, Medical Director of the Center for Comprehensive Sleep Disorders and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is the principal teaching hospital for Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
“Our medical team remains the same at the new location, allowing patients to continue to see their physician to ensure a seamless transition and uninterrupted care and service,” added Anana Phifer, Director of the Center for Comprehensive Sleep Disorders. “Current Sleep for Life patients should be reassured that although the name of the facility has changed, they will still have access to the same services and in addition to the current roster of physicians, they will now have access to a broader range of specialists.”
The Center completed the transition to the new location on September 11. For more information on the Center for Comprehensive Sleep Disorders’ new location and the services it provides, or if you are a patient with special needs, please call (908) 927-8795 or visit www.rwjuh.edu/sleep.
