EAST WINDSOR: Crash victim dies

EAST WINDSOR — The township woman seriously injured in an Aug. 30 accident on Route 33 at Lake Drive has died, police said Thursday.
According to police, East Windsor resident Rochelle Harris, 59, of Bolton Road was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday at the Capital Health Fuld Campus from the injuries suffered in the crash.
The collision, involving two cars, left one driver trapped inside her car in the intersection of Route 33 and Lake Drive, according to police.
The accident occurred at 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Route 33 and Lake Drive on Aug. 30, police said.
According to police, Alex Figarola, 25, of Clarksburg was driving a bronze 2014 Hyundai and was traveling east on Route 33 approaching the intersection of Lake Drive when the traffic signal for Route 33 turned red.
Police said that after the signal turned red, Mr. Figarola struck a vehicle operated by Ms. Harris, who was travelling from Lake Drive northbound attempting a left turn onto Route 33 west with a green traffic signal.
Ms. Harris became was trapped inside the vehicle and was removed by responding emergency medical services, police said.
"Upon patrol arrival two vehicles were found to have been involved in an accident," said Lt. James Geary in a press release. "The preliminary investigation revealed that Ms. Harris was traveling east on Route 33 approaching the intersection of Lake Drive when the traffic signal for Route 33 turned red."
Ms. Harris was transported to the Capital Health Fuld Campus by the East Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad #2 for treatment of her injuries.
Mr. Figarola sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the accident and declined medical treatment at the scene, Lt. Geary said.
The East Windsor police department along with the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #2, Hightstown Engine Co. No. 1, East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #1, East Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad #2, and paramedics from Capital Health EMS responded to the scene to assist with the accident.
According to police, no charges have been filed at this time.
