A $583,800 contract has been awarded to a Hammonton paving company to repave several roads in the northern part of Lawrence Township.
Arawak Paving Co. was awarded the bid by Township Council Tuesday night. Five contractors offered bids for the 2014 road improvement program, ranging from $784,409 to Arawak’s winning bid of $538,800. The municipal engineer’s estimate was $627,825.
Included in the project are Van Kirk Road, from Carter Road to Tall Timbers Drive, and a 1,000-foot-long section of Cold Soil Road, beginning at Carter Road, Municipal Manager Richard Krawczun told Township Council.
Princeton Pike will be repaved from Fackler Road to Province Line Road, Mr. Krawczun said. There will be limited repairs on Fackler Road, between Route 206 and Princeton Pike. The Twin Pines recreation area parking lot, off the Lawrenceville-Pennington Road, also will be repaved.
And Province Line Road, between Rosedale Road and the Stony Brook bridge, will be repaved, Mr. Krawczun said. The cost of that project will be shared by Princeton, which has agreed to contribute $67,500 toward it. The bridge has been closed for more than 20 years and has been converted into a pedestrian bridge.
