Police blotter, Sept. 8-14
A woman called Sept. 8 and said she was worried that her Richard Avenue neighbor’s dogs would jump the fence and come after her husband, who was cutting the grass.
— On Sept. 8 two ceramic dragon lawn gnomes were reported stolen the previous night from the front yard of a Roosevelt Avenue home.
— A caller a few minutes at midnight into Sept. 11 said he had been chased from the residence when he tried to get money back from a Bleecher Street man. Patrols went there and took Hapreet Locham, 18, into custody for obstruction of the law. He was released after booking. Arrangements were made for the relative to repay the money.
— A man called minutes after midnight Sept. 11 to say he had found a stray cat with an injured leg in front of his North St. residence and had brought it into his house. Police said they would contact animal control to get the cat for treatment.
— Jason Lento, 30, of W. Frech Avenue was charged at 11 a.m. Sept. 11 with giving a false report to police about a strong-arm robbery in which he said he was a victim. Police said they investigated and found his report to be unfounded. At about noon on Sept. 11 Mr. Lento was also arrested on a separate charge of contempt of court on a $812 warrant from Oceanport and released with a new court date.
— A woman who said she can’t see told police she thought a woman who helps her with daily errands is throwing out her mail even though it’s valuable. Police came Sept. 11 and looked at a piece of mail that was a sweepstakes that indicated she has won $1 million. The item was determined to be a scam.
— Bruce Ahart, 51, of Hillsborough was arrested for simple assault in a road rage incident on South Main Street at Camplain Road at 1:19 p.m. Friday. He was released.
— A caller said at 11:19 p.m. Friday she had lost a HTC Nexus 4 cell phone while walking her daughter’s dog on West Frech Avenue. It was reported as a matter of record.
— The Norfolk Southern train gate at North 13th Avenue and North Street appeared to have been snapped off intentionally, it was reported at 4:14 p.m. Saturday. Estimate cost to fix it was put at $500.
— A woman reported her Galaxy cell phone, valued at $500, was stolen while she was in WalMart at 11:27 p.m. Saturday.
— A West Camplain Road resident said that a man rang the doorbell for the third time and ran from the home at 11:23 a.m. Sunday. Patrol located Mark Zagaja, 22, of East Camplain Road and charged him with obstruction of the law.
— A Kennedy Boulevard man told police about noon Sunday that sometime between Sept. 10 and 13 someone spray painted a blue ‘SF 83’ on back of his detached garage along the railroad tracks.
— Police were called to a report of a fight between two men, ages 30 and 27, in the area of the LVRR underpass at 10:12 p.m. Sunday. Both men were told they could file complaints of simple assault. No injuries were seen. Less than 15 minutes later police were called to a reported fight in front of the Manville Cleaners. The same two men said "they were apologizing to each other," the report said. Everyone was sent home for the night.
