MONTGOMERY — Wells Fargo wants to help tie the township’s past into its future.
The company opened its first community banking retail store in Montgomery at 1378 Route 206 on Aug. 18. The new store is not only forward thinking with an eco-friendly design that features the latest in technology but also pays homage to the township’s past.
"Wells Fargo is very invested in the communities it serves so we think it is important to acknowledge and share Montgomery’s rich history," Annmarie McDonald, spokesperson for Wells Fargo said.
Wells Fargo worked closely with the Van Harlingen Historical Society to create a mural depicting scenes from Montgomery. There is also a mural key on display that describes the features of the painting."It’s a great way to learn more about the history of Montgomery Township while you’re fulfilling your banking needs," Ms. McDonald said. "The mural is beautiful and does a great job of showcasing Montgomery Township’s past and future."
In an effort to prove that Wells Fargo is "the bank of the future," the store was designed and built to the U.S. Green Building Councils’ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, which features energy savings up to 21 percent over traditional stores and uses approximately 40 percent less water. Building materials are composed of both post and pre-consumer recycled content, according to Ms. McDonald.
"Wells Fargo is committed to reducing its carbon footprint," she said. "We can offer the same — and in many cases, improved — level of service without the same strain on resources as a traditional store. Reduced water consumption, energy savings, and using eco-friendly building materials, this is truly the bank of the future."
According to Wells Fargo Area President Azhoon "AZ" Abdulghani, Wells Fargo has wanted to open a retail banking store in Montgomery to serve the township and surrounding areas for quite some time.
"This store is in an excellent location that will provide a great experience for those with diverse banking needs," he said. "Whether you’re seeking checking or savings accounts, a mortgage or loan, planning for retirement or college, starting a business or whatever the need, we’ll have experts there who can assist."
The store features an online banking station and the latest in ATM technology.
Store Manager Naz D’Elia said the initial reaction to the store has been fantastic and "we’re so excited to be here."
"Besides helping customers with their financial needs, my team and I look forward to getting involved in local causes and volunteering," she said.
Ms. McDonald added, "We’re going to start by meeting with local leaders, businesses, and nonprofits in the community. We want to get to know Montgomery Township and learn how we can support the great efforts happening throughout the township every day. We’re very excited and expect to have a big role in helping it continue to thrive."
