Join the South Brunswick Senior Center, in the Municipal Complex, Route 522, as September 2014 celebrations for Senior Center Month take place and we invite all adults 55+ who reside in South Brunswick to come and take a tour, attend the many special events planned this month and become a member.
Fri., Sept. 19
Karaoke Dance, 8 p.m., American Legion Post 401, 148 Major Road, South Brunswick. Free and open to the public. Continues each Friday night. For information call (732) 329-9861.
Sat., Sept. 20
Flea Market, sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 401, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 148 Major Road, Monmouth Junction. Vendors are wanted. Spaces are priced at $12. There will be all sorts of items for sale. To rent a space or for more information call Barbara Buhl, Auxiliary president, at (732) 821-6673. Mothers, sisters, wives and daughters of veterans interested in joining the Auxiliary should contact Ms. Buhl, as well.
Book and Author Gala, at the South Brunswick Public Library, 6:30 p.m. Author Ann Hood will be on hand to make a presentation and sign books. Tickets are $65 per person. To buy tickets or sponsor the event, call (732) 329-4000, extension 7287.
Tues., Sept. 23
Monthly 11 a.m. Birthday Luncheon at the Office on Aging, South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. Call 732 329 4000 x7670 for more information. If your birthday is in the month of September please call the office by Sept. 16 to sign up. A special menu will be served followed by birthday cake. During your celebration there will be games and trivia for all. This event is open to senior residents 55+.

A live concert, featuring Bruce Mauro on the piano, will be held at 12:15 p.m. at Office on Aging, South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. He will play a rendition of popular songs. Open to South Brunswick residents 55+ only. Call 732-329-4000 X7670.
Operation Blue Angel, a free program run by the South Brunswick Police Department to assist residents who, due to advanced age, mobility, or medical concerns, may be unable to answer their door in an emergency situation, will be discussed at 12:30 p.m. at the Office on Aging, South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. A Police Department-owned lock box similar to a realtor’s lock box is mounted to a door of the home. A key, supplied by the resident, is locked inside the box. In an emergency, responding police officers could retrieve the key by using a code , allowing police to quickly enter the home without causing damage. Applicants to Operation Blue Angel must meet certain criteria and agree to our terms and conditions. Open to South Brunswick residents 55+ only. Call 732-329-4000 X7670.

A live concert titled "Piano Creations" featuring Matthew Fishteyn, a musician with a high-energy repertoire that includes his original compositions written indifferent styles of music including jazz, Latin, blues and rock ’n’ roll, will be held at 12:15 p.m. Office on Aging, South Brunswick Senior Center in the Municipal Complex, Route 522. Adult Health Fair, sponsored by the South Brunswick Health Department, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the South Brunswick Senior Center. There will be free screenings for blood pressure/blood sugar, hearing, body mass index, vision/glaucoma, oral cancer, foot and ankle, balance, fall prevention, osteoporosis, DermaScan, and braces for teeth (ages 7 and older). Also available: Blood Profile (CBC, chem screen, cholesterol, and lipids) $27 (cash only); Flu Vaccine $25 (cash, check or Medicare B); Pneumonia Vaccine $25 (cash, check or Medicare B).
