Upcoming events at the Hopewell Public Library include:
— Storytime: Every Monday at 10:30 a.m. Storytime for preschoolers through young elementary ages will be expanded with extra summer activities. Ongoing self-guided activities will be available in the children’s room for all! Registration is not required.
— Getting Comfortable with Computers: 1 p.m. The first Monday of each month, HPL’s technologist will answer questions, provide a demonstration and guide participants to gaining confidence in using computers, the Internet, the World Wide Web and the digital world. There are no prerequisites except a desire to become more comfortable with computers.

Events at the Hopewell Township branch, Mercer Library, include:
— Skype: The Next Best Thing to Being There! will be presented by Anna Van Scoyoc on Sept. 18 from 7-8:15 p.m. Learn how to make free voice and video calls over the Internet using free software from Skype. Attendees will set up an account, learn how to make calls and add contacts. Call 737-2610 to register for this hands-on workshop. Library laptops may be reserved when registering or bring your laptop or mobile device to work along using the library’s wireless network.
All participants must be experienced and comfortable with their device or the computer, keyboard and mouse.
An open computer lab will be held Sept. 22 from 10-11:30 a.m. Practice what you’ve learned in computer classes or bring in questions you have about the library’s digital resources. An instructor will be available to assist. Registration is suggested but not required.
— New Jersey Writers’ Society Support Group will meet Sept. 23 from 6- 8:30 p.m. All are welcome. No registration necessary.
— This month’s Movie for Adults is "Bad Words," which will be shown Sept. 24 at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. Forty-year-old Guy Trilby (Jason Bateman) discovers a loophole in the National Spelling Bee rules that allows him to compete against the pre-teen participants. He strikes up an unlikely friendship with a 10-year-old misfit named Chaitanya (Rohan Chand) as he becomes the subject of a news story by probing reporter Jenny Widgeon (Kathryn Hahn). Rated R. No registration.

— Sept. 23, 6:30-8 p.m. Your Retirement: Transition & Discovery for the Next Chapter of Your Life: Led by John George, clinical psychology: Join us for this interactive presentation focusing on the transition and adjustment to retirement. Learn two practical approaches to the transition process and discuss roles that "acceptance" and "discovery" play in navigating this important life change. — Every Wednesday at 1 p.m., the library holds English language conversation sessions. Meeting leader Bambi Hegedus has tutored professionally and on a volunteer basis for more than 25 years. Participants at these relaxed and informal sessions should have some knowledge of English. Emphasis will be on learning practical phrases and will be determined by the needs of the participants.
