(1888 PressRelease) Through her work in the secular movement, Edwina Rogers has advocated for even more academics and top thinkers to join as fellows, connected them to public policy projects, and delivered their best ideas to the US Congress through materials and Congressional briefings.
Edwina Rogers has been a central figure in the community of atheists, secularists, humanists, and other freethinkers that openly advocate for separation of church and state. Now through her work as Government Affairs Fellow for the Secular Global Institute (SGI), she has teamed with best-selling atheist authors Richard Dawkins, Michael Shermer, and Sam Harris.
Edwina Rogers met all three on a recent trip to Los Angeles, where they were joined by Bill Nye, the Science Guy, and social psychologist Carol Travis, who are also SGI Fellows. Sam discussed his new book, "Waking Up", which is for the growing audience in America who call themselves "spiritual and not religious."
Edwina Rogers developed the concept for the secular think tank, and as the Government Affairs Fellow, she brings her long career of public policy and building coalitions. She previously held staff jobs in the White House for two US Presidents, and in the US Senate for four Senators, and worked in the private sector both in the United States and internationally. Edwina Rogers has the ability to connect the ideas of prominent atheist authors to lobbying efforts on behalf of the secular movement. These skills draw impressive Congressional attention at a time when those who advocate for nonbelief are drawing more traction from the general public at a grassroots level. In short, atheism is trendy, and Edwina Rogers is leading the charge.
