HAMILTON: Police charge man in CVS robberies

Police have arrested and charged a Bordentown man with separate armed robberies at two Hamilton CVS pharmacies.
Clifton W. Marang, 36, was arrested about 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at his home in Bordentown. His is accused of robbing a CVS pharmacy in the 1000 block of Route 33 in the early morning hours of Sept. 26. He is also accused of robbing the CVS pharmacy on Sunnybrae Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. Sept. 26.
In each case store employees told police a man entered the store and went to the pharmacy counter. He is said to have displayed a silver handgun and demanded prescription drugs. In the first robbery he asked that the employee put all available Ativan pills in a white plastic bag. In the second the suspect asked for all available Xanax pills in a white plastic bag.
In the first case the suspect was described as a white man with a goatee, between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 225 to 235 pounds. He was wearing glasses, blue jeans, brown shoes, a black T-shirt and a blue and white wool hat and scarf. In the second case the suspect was described as a white man, unshaven, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet 3 inches, 220 pounds, wearing black sunglasses, red hat, blue jeans, gray T-shirt and black gloves.
During the course of their investigation, detectives from the Hamilton Police Division’s Criminal Investigations Section established probable cause to arrest Mr. Marang, according to a police report. Mr. Marang was arrested at his home in Bordentown at 8 p.m. Sept. 26 with the assistance of the Hamilton Police Division’s Anti Crime Unit, Bordentown City Police Department, Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.
In addition to the CVS pharmacy robberies Mr. Marang has also been charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail has been set at $350,000 full.
