ROBBINSVILLE: Branch library offering October programs

ROBBINSVILLE — The local branch of the Mercer County Library System has slated a number of adult programs in October.
Counseling educator Diane Lang will discuss the issue of bullying at “Let’s Talk About Bullying” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1.
“A History of Inventing in New Jersey: From Thomas Edison to the Ice Cream Cone” will take place at 2p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. This is a special “New Jersey 350” program honoring the 350th anniversary of the state.
“ID Theft and You” is scheduled at 7p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Robert J. Lackie of Rider University will show participants how to analyze ID safety issues; how to apply safeguards at work, home and on the road; and how to detect and protect a digital footprint.
Discover the ins and outs of paranormal research with the Delaware Valley’s oldest ghost research group when South Jersey Ghost Research presents “The Paranormal” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9. Learn about the equipment used, listen to an audio of EVR (Electronic Voice Phenomena), find out about some local investigations, and take part in a Q&A after the lecture. This is a special “New Jersey 350” program honoring the 350th anniversary of our state.
Author, teacher, and Civil War expert Dr. David Martin presents an illustrated lecture on New Jersey’s Civil War leaders at “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: New Jersey’s Civil War Generals” at 7p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16. Learn about famous, good but less well-known, controversial, and terrible generals from our state, and about New Jersey’s Civil War background. The presentation will also touch on other leaders, nurses, soldiers of interest, and even some Confederate generals with New Jersey connections. A Q&A period will follow the lecture. This is a special “New Jersey 350” program honoring the 350th anniversary of our state.
The Robbinsville Library Advisory Committee’s “Book Sale” is from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Pick up some gently-used books of all kinds – fiction or non-fiction for adults or children – for reading pleasure or as gifts while supporting the Robbinsville Library Advisory Committee. There will be DVDs, too! Drop books for the sale off at the library on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m to 4 p.m, or Monday, Oct. 20 through Thursday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 609-259-2150 with any questions.
“Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance: What Is The Difference?” is scheduled at 7 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 28. This event is presented by Board Certified Gastroenterologist Shivaprasad Marulendra, MD, of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Cemeteries can be spellbinding! Come to “Grave-hopping Among the Cemetery Stones” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, and join independent historian Rochelle Christopher as she looks at headstones and their fascinating symbolism in cemeteries around the world.
