Delivery driver robbed at gunpoint

EAST BRUNSWICK — The East Brunswick Police Department is seeking information regarding an armed robbery that occurred on Yorktown Road.

On Sept. 24 at 9:35 p.m., police units responded to Yorktown Road, where the victim, a delivery driver for a supermarket, was approached by an unknown male while he was making a delivery, according to a press release from the Police Department.

The suspect was wearing a ski mask and demanded the victim’s wallet and cellphone. Initially, the victim refused, but the suspect produced a silver revolver and threatened the victim unless he handed over his possessions, according to police.

The driver gave the suspect his wallet and had to walk back to his truck for his phone. As he was walking back to the truck, the suspect hit the driver with the gun, causing lacerations to his face and head. The suspect then fled the scene.

A search of the area by police units and the New Jersey State Police K9 Unit was unsuccessful. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a ski mask.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Lt. Kevin Zebro from the East Brunswick Police Department. Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective Dan Unkel of the East Brunswick Police Department’s Investigative Division at 732-390-6990.
