Friends and family of the Kean University baseball program are kicking off the 2014-15 school year with the Inaugural La Familia Golf Tournament, which will be held on Oct. 17. The outing will take place at the award-winning Makefield Highlands Golf Club located at 1418 Woodside Road, Yardley, Pa.
There will be various activities, such as a Longest Drive Competition, Closest to the Pin contest, a special hole-in-one prize hole, putting contest, awards presentations, silent gift auctions (including collectible sports memorabilia), raffles and more.
The golf portion of the outing begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be available at 9 a.m. A shotgun tee time will begin at 10:30 a.m., and dinner will follow the day of golf around 4:15 p.m.
The field is limited to 120 golfers (30 foursomes), so participants are advised to sign up early to reserve a spot. Entry fees are $160 per golfer, which includes awards, breakfast, 18 holes of golf with cart and a grand buffet dinner. There are also sponsorship opportunities, such as Platinum ($1000), Gold ($150) and Silver ($100), available for companies or business opportunities, such as a banner sporting the company logo and sign on the golf course. Platinum sponsorships include a golf foursome and other perks. Those who can’t make it for golf can still be part of a great time while helping a good cause by taking on a sponsorship. The Cougars, located in Union, are a nationally ranked college baseball program that focuses on family, education, team-ship and responsibility. Monies raised from this event will be used to support the Kean baseball program.
