The founder of the Ace Club, renowned pitching instructor Matt Sweeney, has expanded his instructional offerings and has developed The Advanced Pitching Academy. The program is designed to prepare pitchers for the skill-set and mindset necessary to succeed over the course of a long season through a baseline of proper mechanical and foundational strength development to ensure arm maintenance.

Friends and family of the Kean University baseball program are kicking off the 2014-15 school year with the Inaugural La Familia Golf Tournament, which will be held on Oct. 17. The outing will take place at the award-winning Makefield Highlands Golf Club in Yardley, Pa.

Broken Record held on for a length and three-quarter victory in the $25,000 New Jersey Sire Stake – Green Acres Final, the first of two nonwagering races on Sept.18 at Freehold Raceway.

The Ray Schnittker-trained and driven son of Muscles Yankee was a wire-to-wire winner in 2:00.1 in the 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings finals. He has a winning streak of two.

Mountain Top (Muscle Hill) was second, with Switchblade Hall (Muscles Yankee) in third by two-and-a-half lengths.

Broken Record has now collected four wins, a second and three thirds from nine starts. He is just shy of $65,000 in earnings for Schnittker and Ted Gewertz of New York City.

In the $7,000 first leg of the Green Acres for 3-year-old pacing fillies, Fanticipation (Rocknroll Hanover) was an eight-and-aquarter length winner over Fiyonce (Rocknroll Hanover) while Ideal Helen (Western Ideal) was 10 lengths back in third.

Fanticipation, driven by Jason Bartlett and trained by Michael Forte, is owned by Ricky Bucci of Stormville, N.Y. She has five wins and five thirds in 14 starts this year.
