Police were flagged down at 8:24 a.m. Sept. 22 to report the theft of a pickup truck tailgate and hitch during the preceding night.
The total value of the theft was estimated at $1,300.
A resident of South 18th Avenue flagged down police at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 22 to report a suspicious man on a bicycle.
Police located the man who said he was just taking a break from riding his bike.
Police were sent at 3:06 p.m. Sept. 22 to check on children reportedly left alone in a silver Subaru that was running.
The car was at a laundry facility at South Main Street and Washington Avenue. It was gone when police arrived.
Wilton Morgan of 1526 Rockaway Road in Lakewood was arrested on warrants on Sept. 22 at Adesa at 200 N. Main St. when he allegedly attempted to use his own license plates for an incorrect vehicle.
A check revealed two outstanding warrants for Mr. Morgan from Howell and Brick, totaling $1,750. He posted bail and was released.
Brian Zarnowski, 21, of 242 N. 10th Ave. was arrested Sept. 22 on an outstanding National Crime Information Center warrant from Hillsborough Township and one from Raritan.
He was turned over to Hillsborough police.
Later that evening, Mr. Zarnowski was found slumped over in his car with a suspected controlled dangerous substance, police said.
He was charged and released without bail.
A fire official requested police assistance at 1:37 p.m. Sept. 23 to clear the building at 262 S. Main St. that was being closed for violations.
Tenants were advised the building would be closed at 4 p.m. per fire safety. Police stood by with the fire marshal.
CVS manager Marilou Mihalko reported to police Sept. 23 that an unnamed man, 31, of Manville, shoplifted from the store Sept. 19.
She was unable to determine exactly what was taken. He was told not to return to the store.
A complaint was lodged at 5:32 p.m. Sept. 23 regarding a North 6th Avenue man who was allowing his unleashed boxer dog to chase people.
The dog was gone when police arrived.
At 6:28 p.m. Sept. 23, a Lincoln Avenue woman came to police headquarters to report someone entered her vehicle and stole $4 in loose change.
Antonio A. Cianflone, 27, of 213 4th St., Middlesex, was charged with shoplifting at Wal-Mart at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 25.
The value of the merchandise taken was $244.03. He was released without bail.
Fausto Dominguez, 38, of Plainfield, was charged Friday with harassment to an H&L Multi Service employee.
He was released on $500 bail. He also posted $428 bail for a Middlesex Borough warrant for nonpayment of fines.
A resident reported at 12:04 p.m. Saturday that a man with binoculars was sitting in a gold car watching girls at Manville High School wash cars.
The man told police he was looking for his daughter.
A resident of Fabel Avenue complained at 2:39 p.m. Saturday about a group of men cursing and throwing bottles.
After speaking with police, the men said they would take the party inside for the night.
A Garry Street woman complained at 5:20 p.m. Saturday that she believed her neighbor did something to her cat.
The cat was bleeding from a small scratch behind its ear. Later, she said she was unsure if a person or another animal caused the scratch.
Vincent Mangione, 18, of 31 Weston Road, Somerset, was charged with drunken driving at 1:13 a.m. Sunday.
Brian Nowack, 29, who is homeless, was charged at 7:37 p.m. Sunday with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and simple assault, police said.
He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital of Somerset for treatment.
