Sons of the American Legion Squadron 455 Monthly All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast Buffet takes place every first Sunday of the month and benefits the community, veterans and their families. "The Story of Harness Racing" by Currier & Ives exhibit is at Historic Walnford in Upper Freehold.T his traveling exhibit from the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame is on display and features 33 colorful lithographs. The exhibit is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission and parking are free.

The annual Fall Festival in Allentown will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. There will be craft/artisan tables lining the street, tasting the many festival foods and the local restaurants specials, lots of live musical entertainment, inflatables and activities for kids, classic car show, Vintage Baseball Game on Saturday in Heritage Park, the Allentown Lions Club will be hosting a Craft Beer Garden featuring a selection of local brews. Local Abundance holds the first Share the Goodness Dinner following the fall festival on Saturday evening. There will be chefs from Princeton restaaurants coming to cook for everyone and mingle. Art Auction & Silent Auction, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Robbinsville-Hamilton at the Nottingham Ballroom, 200 Mercer St., Hamilton Square. The 6:30 p.m. preview and 7:30 p.m. auction will feature framed art in all media and price ranges. Valuable silent auction items will be available to bid on. Major credit cards will be accepted. The $10 admission includes light fare, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments by food and beverage sponsor Killarney’s Publick House. A bus trip to Bally’s Atlantic City, sponsored by The Plumsted Township Republican Club. Tickets cost $20 and include round trip bus fare, driver gratuity and a casino giveback of $20. The new Jersey Devil Tournament will take place at Charleston Spring North Golf Course in Millstone. Play starts at 10 a.m. This two-person team event features a mixture of formats: scramble for holes 1-6, best ball for holes 7-12, and modified chapman for holes 13-18. All participants must have a current USGA-certified GHIN handicap. Combined team handicap cannot exceed 29. Teammates’ handicaps cannot differ by more than nine strokes. Registration closes on Monday, Oct. 20.

The New Jersey Quarter Horse Association is having an all-breed charity trail ride starting at the Wind Dance Equestrian Stables, 86 East Branch Road, Allentown, and traveling through the Assunpink Wildlife Refuge. Breakfast and registration will start at 9 a.m. The ride will begin at 10:30 a.m. Choose a level of comfort. Three guided rides will be offered – walk, walk/trot and advanced. Lunch will be served following the ride. Door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction will be part of the festivities.
The 25th annual Millstone Township Halloween Parade parking, registration and parade line-up will take place between 1:45 and 2 p.m. at the fields behind the Clarksburg Inn on Route 524. The parade will begin promptly at 2 p.m. at which time Route 524 will be closed to through traffic. Goody bags will be distributed and prizes will be awarded for scariest, funniest, prettiest, most original and most patriotic. Donations of individually wrapped candy will be accepted through Oct. 17 at the Millstone Firehouse, 461 Stage Coach Road, Clarksburg, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The event is coordinated by the Millstone Township Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary and is sponsored by Millstone Township area businesses and organizations. The 16th annual pleasure ride/drive called "The Turkey Trot" will take place rain or shine 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Horse Park of New Jersey on Route 524 in Allentown and the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area. Winter storytime sessions at the Allentown Library. Stories, songs and fun activities every Thursday at the library at 16 S. Main St., Allentown. No registration required.
The schedule includes Good Morning Storytime from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. for ages 3 and under with a parent or caregiver (siblings welcome); Preschool Storytime from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. for ages 3 to 5; and Family Storytime from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. for all ages.

Book collection. Every first Saturday of the month from May through October the Friends of the Plumsted Township Library will be collecting used books for future book sales. Fiction, nonfiction, large print, children’s, CDs, DVDs, audio books and jigsaw puzzles are accepted. Do not donate soiled, mildewed items. Videotapes, Readers Digest condensed books, magazines or encyclopedias are not accepted.
