HILLSBOROUGH: GOP candidates vote to ‘do more with less,’ writer says

Letter to the editor

To the editor:
We hear that the economy is improving, but in many ways it is hard to see how things are getting any better. Times are still tough, and it’s sometimes a struggle to make ends meet. As a taxpayer in Hillsborough, I want to know that my tax dollars are being spent wisely. Government needs to be efficient, run as lean as possible and make the most out of all the hard-earned tax dollars it spends.
Now is not a time to focus on new spending. Now is a time to make do with less without cutting important programs. As a taxpayer, and a voter, I will be voting for candidates that understand the difficulty associated with paying property taxes. I will be voting for candidates who have the goal of doing more with less. I will be voting for candidates that are proud of their record of spending decreases.
I will be voting for Mayor Doug Tomson and Committeewoman Gloria McCauley. Along with our Republican-led Township Committee, Tomson and McCauley have not only kept a lid on new spending, they have actually helped cut spending. They have continued to allow for vital township services to continue, while running leaner and more efficient. They have shown that they understand the importance of careful budgeting, and making due with less.
In short, they have the record of fiscal responsibility that is right for Hillsborough in these tough times. I urge voters to support Mayor Tomson and Committeewoman McCauley this November.
