Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation & Kessler Rehabilitation Center Staff Earn Advanced Certifications

Several members of the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and Kessler Rehabilitation Center clinical staff have earned advanced certification from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).  These specialized certifications are awarded through rigorous education and training programs and recognize the individual’s clinical knowledge and skills in specialized areas of patient care.
Receiving certification as Neurological Clinical Specialists (NCS) from the APTA are Kim Favara, PT, DPT, of Hoboken, who works at Kessler’s West Orange hospital; and Justine Mamone, PT, DPT, of Rutherford, and Danielle Weiser, PT, DPT, of Montclair, who work at Kessler in Saddle Brook.  These three physical therapists specialize in the care and treatment of with persons with brain injury, stroke and other neurologic and neuromuscular disorders, including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and ALS.
Rebecca Jordan, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, of Long Valley, who works at Kessler Institute in West Orange, and Elizabeth Troutman-Arcentales, PT, DPT, of Fair Lawn, who work at Kessler in Saddle Brook, received the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification from the APTA.  Dana Simone, PT, DPT, of Wyckoff who works at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Clifton, also earned OCS certification. These physical therapy specialists focus on the care and treatment of individuals who have experienced orthopedic trauma, joint replacement surgery and other musculoskeletal issues.
Rodney J. Wishart, III, PT, DPT, of Netcong, who works at Kessler Institute in Chester, was awarded the Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification from RESNA. This certification acknowledges the clinician’s ability to analyze the needs of individuals with disabilities, determine the appropriate assistive technologies – wheelchairs and other mobility devices, as well as equipment to help individuals gain greater independence in their daily lives.
