The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2014 Light the Night Walk will take place at 5 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Great Lawn by McKinley Street and Whitman Terrace in Long Branch.
Each year, in communities all across the United States and Canada, teams of families, friends, co-workers and local and national corporations come together to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s walks to bring help and hope to those battling blood cancers.
During the walk, participants carry illuminated lanterns — white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.
Last year, more than $57 million was raised through Light the Night Walks in approximately 185 communities in North America. To form a team or to learn more, call Stephanie Sims at 908-956-6634 or visit www.lightthenight.org/nj.
