HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP: Police Blotter

Hopewell Township police Chief Lance Maloney reported:
— On Oct. 7 at 10 a.m., Officer Alexis Mirra went to a residence in West Amwell Township on Rocktown-Lambertville Road in an attempt to locate Veronica Gandolfo, 53, who was wanted for failing to appear in Hopewell Township Court on bad check charges.
Ms. Gandolfo allegedly issued checks to a local business when she knew the accounts had no money in them, police said.
Ms. Gandolfo was located at the residence and placed under arrest. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and remanded to the Mercer County Correction Center without bail.
West Amwell Township police assisted Officer Mirra at the residence.
The case will be forwarded to the Mercer County prosecutor’s office.
— Officer James Hoffman stopped a vehicle on Pennington Road for failing to have its headlights activated while its windshield wipers were on during a rainstorm on Oct. 11. The officer spoke with the driver, Deron Foster, 20, of Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown, who had active traffic warrants for his arrest out of Hamilton Township and Trenton. Mr. Foster was transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with the headlight violation, which will be heard in Municipal Court. Mr. Foster was later released after posting bail on the outstanding warrants.
— Officer John Ferner checked a suspicious vehicle, which had pulled into the Old School Baptist Church cemetery, off of Mercer Street on Oct. 6.
The driver of the car, John Provenzano, 28, of Hamilton Avenue, Hopewell, had the odor of alcohol on his breath while speaking with the officer .
After performing field sobriety tests, Mr. Provenzano was transported to police headquarters for processing and charged with DWI and reckless driving. The charges will be heard in Municipal Court. Mr. Provenzano was later released to a relative.
