HOPEWELL VALLEY: Stampede closing celebration Sunday

Come celebrate the close of the Stampede!
The Hopewell Valley Arts Council has been impressed by the continued community support for The Stampede public art exhibit.
As demonstrated by the response, our Valley is rich with talent and interest in the Arts. We have been thrilled by how the community has engaged with the oxen and were even more excited to witness the creativity it inspired — in clever selfies shared on our Facebook page, in the photo albums created and the photo contests sponsored by local businesses, and even "dress-like-the ox" pictures that made us smile with every post.
PLEASE JOIN US on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 3-5 p.m., rain or shine, at the Hopewell Elementary School for a closing celebration.
In addition to live music and food trucks, the Arts Council will reveal which ox won the community’s heart and was voted "People’s Choice"; introduce the prize-winning artists; and announce how much was raised through the online auction.
The online auction closes at 3 p.m. on Oct. 19. Visit www.hvstampede.org, find your favorite ox’s webpage, and click on "Bid On Me Now" to place your final bid!
It’s also an opportunity to see the Mystery Ox, the only ox no one knows!
The closing celebration also is an opportunity to learn about the fall/winter 2014 workshops offered by the Arts Council. The workshops are designed to keep the winter doldrums at bay and inspire unique ideas for the upcoming holidays. Workshops include: Creating heirloom quality ornaments and boxwood centerpieces to decorate your home; pearl and leather jewelry that can be given as gifts; and learning how to pair a unique wine with traditional holiday foods.
To register for a workshop, visit www.hvartscouncil.org and click on "Workshops". Don’t delay. Enrollment is limited.
FOR THOSE WHO WILL MISS THE OXEN after they go to their new homes, the legacy lives on.
The Hopewell Valley Arts Council, in partnership with the Pennington Public Library, is pleased to offer "Stampede Sundays," a series of presentations by three different Stampede artists each week from Dec. 7-Jan. 11. Join the Arts Council for cider and cookies and learn about the inspiration, techniques and artistic vision behind the creation of the wonderful oxen of The Stampede.
And don’t forget — Ten of these amazing of works of art will be available for purchase at the Arts Council’s "Year of the Ox" Gala on Jan. 24, 2015. Stay tuned for further details!
