The Lawrence Township Police Department is looking for a Philadelphia man in connection with the attempted theft of a television set from a room at Mount’s Motel on Brunswick Pike at 12:52 p.m. Oct. 12, according to police Lt. Joseph Amodio.
Christopher Dougherty, 28, of Philadelphia, is facing charges of theft, possession and distribution of hypodermic syringes and obstruction of the administration of law and justice, Lt. Amodio said. Two accomplices have been apprehended and charged.
The manager of the Mount’s Motel observed three people removing the television from a room at the motel they had rented, Lt. Amodio said. They had covered the television set with a curtain and were attempting to leave with it when he tried to stop them.
Mr. Dougherty fled to the rear of the property, tossed the television set over a fence and fled. His two companions, Johnny Nelson, 45, of Trenton, and Crystal Franchitti, 26, of Philadephia, were apprehended, Lt. Amodio said.
After Mr. Nelson tried to pass himself off as a Trenton police officer, he was charged with impersonating a police officer, Lt. Amodio said. He was also charged with theft, hindering apprehension for giving a false name, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession and distribution of hypodermic syringes.
Ms. Franchitti was charged with theft, obstruction of the administration of law and justice, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe, Lt. Amodio said.
Mr. Nelson was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center, and Ms. Franchitti was released on a summons. Warrants have been issued for Mr. Dougherty.
