The public is invited to learn to survive and thrive after a life-changing event that can turn one’s life upside down with the Bounce Back – The Power of Resilience Conference on Oct 17. The conference is presented by Grief Information Education and Recovery (GIERS) and will be held at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
GIERS is co-directed by Bernice Garfield-Szita and Robert Szita.
The keynote speaker will be Dan Tomasulo of Red Bank, a psychologist, clinician, psychodramatist and author.
The conference will empower, educate and enrich community members and the health care and educational professionals who serve them with tools to survive and thrive, according to a press release.
Breakout sessions will include “When You Can’t Stop the Waves, Learn to Sail,” “The Domino Effect of Divorce: Putting the Pieces Back Together” and “Turning Lemons into Lemonade: Finding the Positivity in Adversity,” among others.
Vendor visits are planned. A light breakfast and lunch will be served, and refreshments will be served throughout the conference. The cost is $85 in advance or $100 at the door. Scholarships are available that will permit the conference organizers to waive or lower the fee. Call 732-577- 1076 for more information.
Dr. Gail Reilly of Freehold Township will be honored for her work as a military physician at Fort Monmouth and for her volunteer work at the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank, where she serves as medical director.
