EDISON — Township homeowners can once again get a supply of brownpaper leaf bags from Town Hall after officials found a more cost-efficient way to restore the service, township officials said.
Homeowners can pick up their allotment of leaf bags in packets of 20 or 40. They are available weekdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Edison Municipal Complex, 100 Municipal Blvd.
Leaf bags also will be distributed from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Oct. 18.
Edison bought 200,000 biodegradable leaf bags through the Somerset County Cooperative Pricing System.
“Making purchases like our leaf bags through the co-op enables the town to obtain much better rates and prices for taxpayers,” township Business Administrator Maureen Ruane said.
Edison, like many Central Jersey towns, previously made such purchases through the Piscataway Cooperative Pricing Council, but that co-op was dissolved in 2012.
