Nathaniel Aaron “Nate” Moss

Nathaniel Moss, 21, of Freehold Township, (stationed in Fort Polk, La.) passed away from a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014. Nate was born in Mineola, N.Y., and lived in Rockville Centre, N.Y., until settling in Freehold Township when he was 8 years old. He was a 2010 graduate of Freehold High School, Freehold Borough, and attended the Eisenhower Middle School and the Joseph J. Catena grammar school, both in Freehold Township, as well as Watson Elementary in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Nate was a member of the first ice hockey team at the high school. Upon graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., for basic training, Fort Huachuca, Ariz., for advanced individual training, and Fort Polk, La., for unmanned aerial vehicles. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, but found great happiness working on his car and snowboarding with his mother. Nate was a diehard Mets, Jets and Knicks fan, but his true love was for his daughter. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Arthur Davis Jr.; and his paternal grandfathers, William Scott and Ronald Moss Sr. He is survived by his 10-month-old daughter, Sydney Moss; his parents, James E. and Stacey L.D. Moss of Freehold Township; two brothers, Nicholas Moss and Cameron Moss, both of Freehold Township; his maternal grandmother, Linda Williamson Davis of Barre, Vt,; his maternal great-grandmother, Judith Davis of Knoxville, Tenn.; his paternal grandmother, Mary Scott of Oceanside, N.Y.; his two faithful canine companions, Rocky and Hunter; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation and funeral services were held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment was private.
