Monmouth University’s Urban Coast Institute (UCI) will host the 10th annual Champions of the Ocean Awards Luncheon and Ocean Future Symposium from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30, at Monmouth University’s Woodrow Wilson Hall, West Long Branch.
The symposium, “New Horizons: Ocean Health, Research and Exploration,” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and is open to the public. The awards luncheon will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Reservations are required.
Proceeds from this year’s awards luncheon will support a $5 million Marine Science and Policy Initiative Challenge Grant.
The honorees and symposium presenters include Dr. Kathy Sullivan, administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Wendy Schmidt, co-founder of the Schmidt Ocean Institute.
