HAMILTON: Driver charged in hit and run

Charity assisting injured pedestrian

HAMILTON — An arrest has been made in connection with the Aug. 10 hit-and-run that seriously injured resident Ryan Hamilton on Sylvan Avenue.
Ashli Mohamed, of the 1500 block of Kuser Road, has been charged with aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, tampering with evidence and several motor vehicle summonses. Bail was set at $100,000, according to Hamilton Township police.
Mr. Hamilton, 24, was crossing the street in front of his house on Sylvan Avenue behind Foley’s Market around 2:41 a.m. when a vehicle came around the corner and hit him and then dragged him 100 yards, according to Hometown Heroes in Toms River, which has established a charity fund for Mr. Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton was transported by emergency medical service personnel to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment of the injuries sustained in the collision, according to police. He was discharged from the hospital after having his pelvis repaired, according to his sister, Kaitlin Hamilton, who has been updating the public on his condition via her facebook page.
Mr. Hamilton was notified of the arrest. While the investigation is continuing additional complaints are pending, according to police.
The Mercer County Prosecutors Office and the New Jersey State Police are assisting with the investigation.
