Police report, issue of Oct. 30
At 9:24 p.m. Oct. 20 police arrested a minor who was parked in a Nissan pickup truck on Lincoln Avenue. He was taken to police headquarters and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and a ceramic smoking pipe before being released to his father.
— A woman came to police headquarters on Oct. 21 to report her cell phone was stolen. She did not provide her name or address.
— Adam D. Franco of North 9th Avenue was charged with disorderly conduct at 1:36 p.m. Oct. 21. He allegedly drove into a woman’s driveway to prevent her from leaving her house.
— Police were notified at 10:03 p.m. Oct. 21, by the former resident of a W. Camplain Road address that her roommate had put her belongings outside of the apartment prior to her leaving. She said she was missing some possessions. The roommate said she could return at 5 p.m. the next day to walk through the residence and retrieve the remaining possessions. The call was made as a matter of record.
Police responded to the same address at 7:43 p.m. two days later where the former roommates were in a dispute. One said the other had tried to gain access by crawling through a bathroom window. The dispute was resolved and all property belonging to the roommate who had vacated the apartment was returned to her.
— Thomas DeRosa, 19, of Bridgewater, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction at 1:44 a.m. Oct. 22 at South 2nd Avenue and Washington Avenue. He was processed and released on his own recognizance.
— Police responded to a 911 hangup call at 1:56 p.m. Oct. 22. A woman complained her boyfriend was playing video games and was not paying attention to her. Both parties were advised of their rights. She said she would leave him alone and blamed the situation on her hormones and being pregnant.
— Police received a call at 7:31 p.m. Oct. 22 regarding a motor vehicle hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of S. 13th Ave. and W. Camplain Road. The person who called in the accident did not stop and the people involved in the accident were gone when police arrived.
— At 6:21 p.m. Oct. 23 a South Main Street apartment resident, 39, asked police to take him to the hospital because he had too much to drink. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Somerset hospital.
— Tiawanna Denis of Somerset and Melissa Joseph of Bridgewater were charged with shoplifting merchandise from Wal-Mart on North Main Street at 11:59 a.m. Friday. They were accused of shoplifting $78.08 and $55.99 worth of merchandise, respectively.
— Valerie Kopcho of North 9th Avenue reported being harassed Friday by a woman who lived on the same street, who allegedly beeped her horn and took pictures of her. In return, the accused said she was being harassed by the first woman, who allegedly gave her indecent gestures and videotaped her. One of the women also reported being followed by another woman from the same street. All parties were advised of the complaint process and told how to pursue their own complaints.
— Gordon Baijnath, of Martinsville, was charged with shoplifting $69.52 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart at 1:07 p.m. Friday.
— Andrew Klekner of 131 North 6th Avenue was charged with fraudulently returning about $100 worth of items to Wal-Mart on four separate occasions over the past month. He was released pending his court date.
— Police received a call at 9:38 p.m. Friday from a woman complaining that a man in his 30s, wearing rubber gloves, used a tool to cut a wire securing a sign promoting the Szabo-Camacho candidacy and removed the sign from her property. She provided the car’s registration but it did not come back on file.
— Glen Jerzak, 21, of Boesel Avenue was parked in Lincoln Park after dark on Saturday. Patrol investigated and found him to be in alleged possession of suspected marijuana. He was arrested and later released on a complaint summons.
— A garage door on North 4th St. was reported as being tampered with on Sunday. The complainant said panels were pried open as if someone used a crowbar to try and release the cable. He did not know when this occurred.
— A man from Newark Avenue called police on Monday because they had been unable to reach their mother, who had been in the hospital the preceding week. Police advised the hospitalized woman to call her son.
