More than 30 writers from Hillsborough, throughout New Jersey and beyond will attend Author’s Day at the Hillsborough Public Library at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.
Buy books and get them signed in the program room and throughout the library. Listen to authors read from their books in the west wing.
Authors from many genres — romance, horror, mystery, science fiction and fantasy, young adult and children’s writers, local history, business topics and poetry — will attend.

Writers are invited to network and hear author K. Edwin Fritz talk about his television show aimed toward writers at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.
“Writers 2 Writers” is a television show local to the Princeton area that focuses on writing groups, the writing process and other writing-related concepts. Each episode features three guests who are interviewed for their writing expertise.
Guests so far have discussed anthologies, self-publishing, cover designs, editors and editing, research, National Novel Writing Month, goal setting, character building, revision and memoir. Each episode also will be available on a YouTube channel.
After the talk at 7:30 p.m., participants can chat with Mr. Fritz and fellow audience members about the writing process, critique groups, traditional versus self-publishing and where to find help and resources.
Refreshments will be served. Registration is required.

Nov. 10: Print-on-demand technology has revolutionized the self-publishing industry. This presentation will review the major players, such as Amazon’s CreateSpace, LightningSource and Lulu, as well as traditional self-publishing services.
Nov. 17: Review the major downloadable formats and cover how to get your book into the downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks markets, such as Kindle, Nook, Smashwords, iBookstore, Google Play store and Audible.
Presenter at both programs is Robert Helmbrecht, adult services librarian at the Hillsborough library and owner of the small press publishing company, Hazardous Press.

ESL conversation group — Ages 18 and older can sign up for a mixed-gender English as a Second Language group in the library conference room. Must speak basic English. Ages 18 or older. Mondays, Nov. 10 and 17, at 7 p.m.
Monday Morning Playtime (for parents/caregivers) — Topics of discussion along with recommended resources on baby safety. Toys, books and activities related to the theme, shape and color will be featured. Children up to 36 months are welcome. (There will be toys for them to play with.) Nov. 10 and 17 at 10 a.m.
How to Start a Business — The first of a business startup mini-series will have Arnold Kavasarsky from the local Service Corps of Retired Executives chapter outline the steps of how to start a business. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
Book discussion — Friends of the Library discusses “Beautiful Ruins,” by Jess Walter, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Afternoon movie — “Jersey Boys,” a bittersweet saga that dramatizes the rise and fall of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, will be shown Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1:30 p.m. Rated R.
Adult book discussion — “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell is the topic Thursday, Nov. 20, at 3:30 p.m. Mr. Gladwell asks the question: What makes high achievers different?

Zumba for kids (grades 1-4) — A dance-fitness party where kids rock it out to music with their friends. Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring a water bottle. You will sweat! A library release/waiver must be filled out and signed by parents. Thursday, Nov. 6, at 4 p.m.
Baby Songs (newborn to 24 months — Make music with your little one! Older siblings will not be allowed into this program. Friday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m.
Kids’ concert (ages 3 and older, and caregivers) — Kurt Gallagher keeps his audiences moving, giggling and making music as they stomp, dance and clap along to his interactive music. Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m.
Get Crafty volunteers (grades 8-12) — Teen volunteers are needed to assist Get Crafty programs. Must have social skills and previous experience with children.
