LETTER: Kudos sent out to young mime

James Coe, Hillsborough

For the past 45-plus years, I have enjoyed doling out favors to hoards of Hillsborough trick-or-treaters — toddlers accompanied by moms in the early afternoon, preteens before and after dinnertime, high school teens ( a mob scene) up until it’s lights out — no more goodies.
Totally enjoyable; always an annual delight to witness the local kids having a good time.
This year, sometime in the early evening, a waif of a pre-teen girl, all alone, dressed in black with her face painted black and white as a mime, walked up to the front door, carefully placing her Halloween bucket in front of her and presented a silent request, using only her hands and facial expressions for “tricks or treats;” unquestionably a performance that was the most creative Halloween request I have ever encountered.
When I applauded the young lady, she beamed a smile, blew me a silent kiss of thanks, picked up her bucket after I deposited her treat, and after I praised her once again on her performance, turned with a smile and skipped away to her next performance.
I truly hope my neighbors enjoyed this young lady as much as I did. A star is borne? No question.
Somewhere in Hillsborough are the proud parents of an extremely talented young lady. Bravo!
