Christ the Redeemer Church has received the 2014 Best of Manville Award in the Places of Worship category from the Manville Award Program, which honors the achievements of local businesses.
Sacred Heart Church received the award for 2013 and now again as the newly formed Christ the Redeemer Parish. The plaque will be displayed in the Sacred Heart Church vestibule alongside the 2013 award.
Pastor Stanislaw Slaby received the news in an email.
“I feel proud for what we were able achieve within the last year, not only as Sacred Heart or Christ the King, but together because I believe this award goes to all Catholics of Manville,” he said.
He said, “We are recognized for what we are doing in regards to serving the people of Manville, not only the Catholics, but the Caritas the Sharing ministry that provides assistance to over 150 families in the area on a monthly basis with food that shows what Christ the Redeemer is capable of if we will work together. I believe we were recognized because of our common activities — like the Corpus Christi procession and Stations of the Cross — that are ways not only to show that we are here, but also evangelize, and that is the mission of Christ the Redeemer.”
The Manville Award Program each year “identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Manville area a great place to live, work and play.”
Various sources of information are gathered and analyzed. The 2014 program focused on quality, not quantity, on information gathered by the Manville Award Program and data provided by third parties.
“Everyone who belongs to Christ the Redeemer parish should be proud of what we are able to do and what we are still doing,” the Rev. Slaby said. “Many things will come if we can work together, and we will build a great parish if we can work together.”
