HILLSBOROUGH: Spurious bomb threat closes supermarket

Hillsborough Township police responded to Shop-Rite supermarket on Route 206 on a report of a bomb threat at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5.
The building had been evacuated. Bomb-sniffing K-9 dogs and police searched the store, but nothing suspicious was located. The store resumed business.
The rescue squad, fire department, and county and State police K-9 units responded.
In other reported police incidents:
— Ryan Souto, 22, of Hillsborough was arrested for possession of marijuana after it was allegedly found Oct. 11 in a vehicle he was driving when police stopped it on Hamilton Road.
He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with an order to come to court.
In the same incident, Devon Smith, 18, of Charlotte, N.C., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after it was found in his possession. He was also released with a court date.
— Artimeo Medina-Ortiz, 22, of Kingston, was charged with driving under the influence after police on Auten Road stopped his vehicle Oct. 12.
His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.21 percent, police said. Mr. Medina-Ortiz was also charged with failure to produce a driver’s license and failure to change address on documents. He was released pending a court appearance.
— Evelyn Armstrong, 63, of Manville was charged with driving under the influence Oct. 20 after her vehicle was stopped by police on Brooks Boulevard. Her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.18 percent, police said.
Ms. Armstrong was also charged with careless driving and failure to keep right. She was released with a date to come to municipal court.
