Walkers invited to Slow Down for Sara

The Sara Dubinin Foundation will sponsor its Slow Down for Sara Walk Nov. 16 beginning at Sara’s Garden, near the boat ramp at Kennedy Park, Sayreville. Registration is set for 10 a.m. The event will start at 11 a.m.

Walkers are encouraged to wear pink or purple. Registration is $10 per person. All proceeds will go directly to the Sara Dubinin Foundation to provide scholarships for students at Sayreville War Memorial High School; Our Lady of Victories Elementary School, Sayreville; Cardinal Mc- Carrick High School, South Amboy; and the 4-H Club Horseback Riding.

Sara Elizabeth Dubinin was a 19-yearold resident of Sayreville when she was a passenger in a motor-vehicle crash on Sept. 24, 2007. She slipped into a coma and eventually passed away from her injuries. Her parents were not notified of the crash until hours later, which prompted Sara’s Law, creating a next-of-kin registry in New Jersey to be used to notify family members when an individual is rendered unconscious in an auto accident.
