Ben Franklin Elementary Donates $1000 to Mercer Street Friends Food Bank
Thanks to some excellent student fundraising, the Ben Franklin Parent Teacher Organization donated $1,000 to Mercer Street Friends via their Students Change Hunger program.  Representatives from Mercer Street Friends and Ben Franklin Elementary School were on hand on November 18 for the check presentation.
In total, Ben Franklin donated the equivalent of 1,127 pounds of food!  The donation funds were raised by students who participated in a Fun Run held on October 18 at the Ben Franklin Fall Fest.  Students sought out sponsors and donation pledges for this event knowing that a portion of the proceeds would be donated to the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank.
The Ben Franklin Elementary School community is proud to have participated in the Students Change Hunger program for the second year in a row and is inspired by the resourcefulness of the students to raise funds for such a great cause.
