LAWRENCE — Police are searching for witnesses to an aggravated assault on two men that they believe stemmed from a road rage incident that began in Hamilton Township and ended on Kite Court at Lawrence Square Village at 2:05 a.m. Nov. 15.
The incident may have started in the area of Route 33 near the Wendy’s fast-food restaurant in Hamilton Township, police Lt. Joseph Amodio said. It continued on Quakerbridge Road and into Lawrence Township.
A white Mazda four-door hatchback was tailgating and driving next to the victim’s silver vehicle, Lt. Amodio said. The two cars continued into Lawrence Square Village, where the victim stopped his car on Kite Court.
A white male got out of the Mazda and approached the victim and two friends, Lt. Amodio said.
“A group of three or four black males associated with the driver of the white Mazda appeared in the development and began punching the two occupants of the silver vehicle,” he said. Police are not certain if they were riding in the Mazda, or if the white male called them.
One of the victims, described as a 26-year-old male, suffered injuries to his head and face and was listed in critical but stable condition at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, Lt. Amodio said.
The second victim, who is 25 years old, suffered an injury to his face and was taken to Capital Health Medical Center Hopewell for treatment, he said.
The suspects are described as a white male and three or four black males, all aged 25 to 30 years old, Lt. Amodio said.
Anyone with information on the incident should call Detective Todd Caruso at (609) 844- 7127 or the Lawrence Township Police Department at (609) 896-1111.
